KARACHI: Renowned Philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi at the age of 92 has passed away after a prolonged illness in Karachi.
Edhi’s son Faisal Edhi has confirmed the news of his father’s demise. His funeral prayers will be offered after Zuhr prayers tomorrow at Memon Masjid. He will be laid to rest at Edhi Village, Super Highway.
He had been suffering from kidney failure from June 5 and due to age factor kidney transplant was not impossible, his son Faisal said.
Earlier in the day, Edhi was moved to hospital in morning due to respiratory problems. He was then shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). The SIUT officials had confirmed that Abdul Sattar Edhi has been placed on ventilator.
Well-known surgeon Adeebul Hasan Rizvi was heading the team of doctors treating Abdul Sattar Edhi. The doctors had already declared that next 6-8 hours were very crucial for his life.
